I Can't Breathe: Teaching Black History and Anti-Racism Post George Floyd

In this conversation, panelists highlight the importance of a Critical Black Historiography and examine the evolution of the national and collegiate celebration of Black History Month (at MSU and nationally). Panelists also discuss teaching Black History in this moment of “Racial Reckoning” and outline elements necessary for an engaging, informative, and impactful anti-racist curriculum/pedagogy. 

 

Panelists include Mr. Eddie Washington, MSU Black Alumni Association member, and Drs. Stephen Finley and Leigh Soares, scholars in History, Education, Philosophy, Religion and African American Studies. This discussion in moderated by Dr. Qiana Cutts, an affiliate faculty member in the African American Studies Program at MSU!
