Curriculum Vita
Professor Boyd received his Ph.D. in sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research interests intersect race and social change, including topics as urbanization, entrepreneurship, and socioeconomic issues. His work examines the ways in which the migrations of African Americans to northern and southern cities in the early twentieth century transformed the character of black business in the United States. His publications have appeared in the Journal of Socio-Economics, Social Science Quarterly, and Urban Studies as well as other journals.
